Continually practising broken lines along one long side of the arena will help to improve a horse's lateral balance. As the rider turns onto the long side of the arena, come in off of the track to the 1/4 line, moving inwards on a lateral movement. Proceed for a few strides, then laterally move back out to the track. Repeat down one long side of the arena, alternating sides. As the horse's balance improves, ask for shorter & shorter distances for the lateral movement.
