May 3, 2002, Newsletter Issue #73: Popular Tips for May

Tip of the Week

Take a stirrup leather and run the end thru as for stirrups, then using Duct Tape, tape it securely around your horse´s neck for a quick grab neck strap should you loose your reins, horse gets too fast, horse has no breaks, you have a connected mane release in which to grab ahold of.

If you are riding cross country, eventing or hunting, never use pads on the hoof of the horse. Pads become quite slippery on the grass. Fine for hard, rough gravel or roads, but on the grass they will cause your horse to slip and possibly loose his balance.

Use screw-in studs for traction.
