December 6, 2002, Newsletter Issue #102: Games On Horseback #2

Tip of the Week

You need your horse, One Wooden Stool per rider--minus one, a Referee, and team of riders.

In an arena, you will have all of the wooden stools set up either in the center or randomly around the arena.

The game starts with someone playing music (on a ghetto blaster is fine, or if your arena has a sound system, use that, or you can simply have friends that don`t ride act as Carolers~!).
When the music or sound stops, every rider must find a stool. The Rider must dismount, and sit on the stool. The Rider that is left without a stool is eliminated.

Second and consecutive rounds, a stool is removed for each round.

The game is won, when only one rider remains seated upon a stool.

It is often easier to start the game with the stools in the center of the arena, and as your proficiency increase, to randomly place stools (always short one to rider`s in arena) all over the arena. Riders must proceed on track while music or sound is being played, and once the sound, or music stops, then go in FAST search of a stool to dismount and sit on while holding their horse. It is acceptable to use the stool for a mounting block once the music restarts~!

You can make your own rules and penalties for knocking down a stool, or knocking down another rider, or... This can be penalty points, or having to go the round again, or eliminating a Rider in a round. Whatever you deem appropriate as penalties.
