August 22, 2003, Newsletter Issue #139: Saddleseat Riding Tips

Tip of the Week

In the Morgans, there are the Classic, and English Pleasure, Amateur, Ladies, Juniors, and Open Divisions. In the more Formal Divisions there is the Park and the Road Classes.

In Saddlebreds there are the 3 Gaited, 5 Gaited and Pleasure in both Country Pleasure, Show Pleasure and Open.

The Arabian, Half Arabian and Part Arabian have a class for every entry, or so it will seem.

Try to pick the Division that best suits the ability of the horse. Such as Country Pleasure in Saddlebreds is suited to the horse with the most natural ability without pads or extra long feet, and the most pleasurable to ride. Show Pleasure is for the Horses that have perhaps more need of a pad or hoof to accentuate the action, as well as the horses that are perhaps a bit hotter. The Open Division is the hottest horses with the most action (usually) and this includes the Park Division as well.

In picking your horses division, nothing is set in stone, and remember to have as good a time as is possible~!

REMEMBER: Remember to have fun, and to wear a SMILE~!~!

In September, it will be Diet and Feeding Tips.
