August 31, 2001, Newsletter Issue #53: Finding A Coach/Instructor Part I and The Swedish Warmblood

Tip of the Week

1) Someone who explains patiently and concisely the lesson. Someone who can find alternative explanations or demonstrations, if you as the Rider do not understand at first; without any frustration at you or of themselves in having to find alternative explanations.

2) Someone who stresses safety and demonstrates such on the ground and in the saddle.

3) Someone who stresses and demonstrates good horsemanship and sportsmanship to other Riders, themselves and horses.

4) Someone who gives each of their lessons their undivided attention and leaves distractions and outside conversations to a later time.

5) Someone who welcomes the questions of the students and their families, and helps both to set realistic goals.
