The Rules of Caution About The Use of Blinker Hoods

CAUTION ABOUT Blinker Hoods

Although using blinker hoods on training horses is one of the greatest tools available; there are some very, very important cautions to be aware of with using one.

Horses wearing blinker hoods are singularly focused. They no longer can see behind or beside of themselves. Which (in their mind) leaves the horse completely or totally vulnerable to the trainer in keeping the horse safe and out of danger.

Being that the horse is blind by wearing a hood, except for immediately in front of it, the horse needs to be worked in a completely controlled environment in which he knows fully that he is safe and out of any harm.

An arena that the horse knows and trusts, and is completely relaxed and at ease in will work fine. If ANYTHING should arise in or outside of the arena will the horse is working in blinders, the horse should be made aware of it immediately.

ALWAYS USE BLINDER HOODS SPARINGLY AND CAUTIOSLY.
