November 16, 2007, Newsletter Issue #250: SAFE TURNING OUT

Tip of the Week

Its important to be safe when turning out your horse to play .
Always use a lead shank or lead rope and lead properly.
Walk through the gate with your horse then...
Turn the horse to face TOWARD the gate BEFORE turning him free, so you can back away if he spins and kicks as he runs off.
It is best to put the gate between you and any excited horse before releasing.
