December 27, 2002, Newsletter Issue #105: Games on Horseback--Gambler`s Choice

Tip of the Week

For The Fifth Week, we will discuss Gambler`s Choice.

You need your horse, and a competition of riders, a Course of at least 4 Obstacles, a Timer, an announcer or Judge; this game is usually played at the end of the day at Schooling Shows, or as the final Jumping Class.

If you choose to only have 4 Obstacles, you should have a Vertical, An Oxer, Double Crossrails and either Barrels with a top pole, or a Type of Wall with a top rail.

Each rider in the class must jump the fences in any order that the Rider chooses; thus the name of "Gambler`s Choice". As a fence is knocked down, that fence must be eliminated from the further Jumping from that Rider. Each person`s Class Entry is continued as long as there are fences standing without any rails being knocked down from the fence. Therefore, the more fences used at the start, the longer the duration of that particular ride. The Rider`s time starts as the Rider goes over the first fence. The SHORTEST TIME--with the most number of fences jumped, wins; yet you can not be slow, you must proceed at a good rate of speed over the fences.

HAVE A LOT OF FUN~!~!
