April 13, 2001, Newsletter Issue #33: EASTER Message W/a Horse Story!

Tip of the Week

In our talk about turning tragedies into Blessings is the entire message of Easter! Though a mass mob`s fast and furious expedited "cattle call" to the gallows during a festive holiday celebration, God PROVED once and for all that even the greatest tragedy is still a contributing part to HIS master plan of blessing and of ultimate escape from death. This story is visualized again in the dramatization of the story of Joseph, who`s brothers sold him into slavery and eventual prison, only for him to eventually become the Prime Minister of Egypt.

Today, it is the same with our horses, and our horse activities. To provide you with a analogy from my own life experiences here is a current situation:

Last summer I was able to lease acreage with plenty of future potential for growth! The owner gave the background of why no horses had been here in over 6 yrs. due to the drainage problem during the winter. This winter, in the PNW has been exceptionally dry and the acreage is a bog or a swamp! Up to November, I have been for the past few years riding my horses 6 days per week, for about two hours each per day, and THEY WERE FIT! I moved one of them to a full board facility thinking at least I could ride him and keep his condition up. Well he wanted to be at home with the rest, so badly that he exercised his right of choices to demonstrate ignorant & delinquent behaviour to result in being evicted from the Boarding Barn and was sent home with only a 48 hr. notice! I was CERTAIN that all of my horses at home at Camp Swampamucha would result in a complete loss of their condition, that I had literally worked over 4 yrs. to obtain!

Now, with Winter past, Spring in full swing, my horses muscle tone is literally harder & tighter than ever before. WHY? Due to the 24/7 trudging through knee deep mud & water & slosh! By constantly moving all winter, the hoof problems were not able to attach to them, and the muscling being so challenged, only succeeded to increase their conditioning. So I get to start off the Spring with them having a greater muscle tone than it has ever been! One horse in particular I had worked over 4 yrs. to develop the muscles over his hips and to a very limited success! He now has enviable muscling throughout his back legs and over the hips! Let`s face it his butt is beautiful! This is proof that tragedies CAN & DO turn into blessings.
